Hyde Memorial State Park
State parks across the U.S. face a two-pronged set of obstacles, according to Dave Gatterman, Bureau Chief of Design and Development for New Mexico’s 35 State Parks. “Our first challenge is dollars and cents. The more we are successful in reducing our operating costs in these tough economic times, the more we can keep our parks open. Second, as the guardians entrusted with preserving this country’s most beautiful natural resources, it is incumbent upon us to be as energy efficient as possible in order to reduce our greenhouse gas contributions."
